At Friday's AGM Adam Bray was voted in by members as the new Chairman of Buckingham Football Club, after Tony Checkley stood down after an incredible 14 years in the position.
A familiar face at the club, Adam has been Vice-Chairman of the club since the merge back in 2023, and prior to that Vice Chairman for 12 years at Buckingham United Football Club, alongside the newly appointed club Vice-Chairman Matt Hawes.
A unique link between Adam and the club is that his grandfather Charles Bray 'Bert' was one of the original founders of the club back in 1933 holding the position of Treasurer until 1969.
Further significant club news is that long standing Club Treasurer Kieron O'Callaghan has decided to retire from the position he has held so well for many years, with Mark Skinner being appointed as the club's new Treasurer.
Colin Howkins continues as Football Secretary and Head Groundsman, who was also presented with a glass vase for 50 years of voluntary services to the club. While Otto Friend was voted in as the new Operations Manager, an important role which we hope to see flourish. Emma Davidson continues in her role as Club Welfare Officer.
Neil Holman continues as Club President who was also made a Life Member of the club alongside Kieron O'Callaghan for recognition of their long services to the club.
Lastly, in recognition of exceptional service the club, Tony Checkley received the honorary position of Life Vice President of Buckingham Football Club.
Following his appointment as Chairman, Adam had this to say;
I am incredibly proud and honoured to have been appointed as Chairman of Buckingham Football Club and I would like to begin by thanking Tony Checkley. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last two years working together since the merge of Buckingham United and Athletic and during that time I have learnt so much from Tony, not least the importance of diplomacy! but someone who has had a genuine positive impact on my life too and many others within the club and the local community.
The club means so much to so many people within the town and as we look forward with the new season on the horizon, we are blessed to have a such a multi skilled committee and volunteers alongside the great coaches and players across all 8 teams within the club. All of which will play such a key part in reaching our full potential and working together to collectively to fulfil some strong ambitions for the future of the club.
My key focus moving forward will be to continue the great work and projects already underway while building strong relationships with key stakeholders and working to ensure we maintain the fun and enjoyment of the game which everyone loves.
