The First Team are home at the weekend

We welcome Leighton Town Reserves to Stratford Fields

First Team

The First Team have their 38th and final League game of the season on Saturday. They are at home to Leighton Town Reserves in a 3pm KO.

Manager Scott Reynolds has this to say in his programme notes

"Good afternoon and welcome back to Stratford Fields for our final game of the season.

Truth be told it has not been the finish to the season we hoped for. Following a great run of results in the mid section and a fantastic record beating four wins on the spin, we now find ourselves seven without a win and just a draw in there amongst six losses. A run of results simply not good enough, despite the fact we have played most of the top sides in recent weeks.

We have suffered hugely from injury issues, a few availability problems and also losing some key players earlier in the season to clubs paying money. That said, we are more than safe and will finish in the mid section. A good turnaround from where the team found itself at the start of the season and I do believe solid foundations and higher standards have been set for the future.

We hope to have a few players back today, three in particular who were not there last weekend. Ollie Howarth, Eduard Petrescu and Samir Masad hope to return following injuries. Will be great to see Samir back after his horrific injury against Stotfold which saw the game abandoned that night.

The team and I want to finish the season with a win at home, so please get behind the lads to give us that extra push as we aim to complete the league double over Leighton Town Reserves.

I think at this stage off the pitch we all have more than one eye on next season. Lots of work has gone in with regards seeking sponsorship, facilities improvements and other things. An important few weeks of conversations ahead, then once all agreed we can begin to properly plan.

Next season has to see the fruits of our labour, with more consistency on the pitch and a higher level of ambition all over if we are to be successful.

Thanks for all your support since Gurts and I came back to the club. I hope you have enjoyed some of the football we have played and entertainment provided.

Keep supporting this great little club, but also is there anything you can do to help move it forward.

See you in the bar. Scott"

We'd like to see as many of you there as possible, but if you're unable to go then you can follow along on the Club Twitter feed here.
